The Milwaukee Brewers placed outfielder Jackson Chourio on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left hand ahead of their Opening Day game against the Chicago White Sox, the team announced Thursday.
Chourio will miss an estimated two-to-four weeks, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy.
The 22-year-old was hit by a pitch on his left hand while playing for Team Venezuela during the World Baseball Classic. While scans at the time only revealed soft tissue damage, Chourio missed tournament games as a result.
Chourio explained that he felt pain in the same area on a check swing during a recent exhibition game against the Cincinnati Reds. An MRI revealed a small fracture at the base of his left middle finger.

The outfielder appeared in four spring games for the Brewers following the WBC, racking up four hits in 12 at-bats with a home run, double, and RBI.
Chourio owns a .272/.317/.463 slash line with 42 homers, 157 RBIs, and 43 steals in two big-league seasons with the Brewers.
Jake Bauers will start in place of Chourio on Opening Day, according to McCalvy, and Blake Perkins could also get into games after being recalled from the minors.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy suggested Christian Yelich would see more outfield playing time during Chourio's absence as well, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
