Analysis:Smith joined the Spartans in the offseason after transferring from Notre Dame and appears set for a largely reserve role, barring a potentially eligibility dispute concerning fellow receiver Rodney Bullard. Smith was seen working with the second gorup of receivers behind Bullard, Chrishon McCray and Charles Taplin, who appear to be locked into the first group, at least for the moment.
