Messick (10-8) earned the win over the Angels on Monday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out four batters over six innings.
Analysis:Messick was perfect for three innings, but the Angels got to him for a run on three singles in the fourth. Those ended up being the only hits the left-hander allowed, and he faced the minimum the rest of the way. Messick didn't have his swing-and-miss stuff working -- the four punchouts were his fewest since he notched just one strikeout against Miami on July 10 -- but he nonetheless recorded his second straight quality start and his 11th overall this season. He's been one of the AL's most effective starters in 2026 with a 2.50 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 156:41 K:BB over 155 innings spanning 26 starts.
