Spanish striker Esther Gonzalez drew criticism from football fans on Wednesday for deleting photos of her wife and son from her social media after signing for Saudi Arabian side Al Qadsiah.
The 33-year-old, who won the World Cup with Spain in 2023, joined the Saudi Women's Premier League club this week.
Fans have criticised Gonzalez for the move as homosexuality is outlawed in the ultra-conservative kingdom.
On July 27, Gonzalez left NWSL club Gotham FC after agreeing a mutual contract termination to "attend to personal matters in Spain", the American side said in a statement.
In 2023, men's England international Jordan Henderson drew criticism for joining Saudi Pro League club Al Ettifaq from Liverpool after previously supporting LGBTQ campaigns.
Henderson left Saudi Arabia after six months to join Ajax and later apologised for his decision.
