Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon received a five-minute major and a game misconduct for goaltender interference against Edmonton Oilers netminder Connor Ingram on Tuesday.
Ingram was cut on the play and left the game, not returning for the third period. Officials upheld the major after a review.

Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar sounded off on the ruling afterward.
"There's no chance that he hits the goalie if (Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse) doesn't run into him. He's not hitting the goalie," Bednar said following Colorado's 4-3 loss.
He added: "I don't care if he's injured, not injured, it's a severe crash, not a severe crash: It's not a penalty. If you put guys into your own goalie, it's not a penalty. That's the way I see it."
MacKinnon leads the NHL with 43 goals and is tied for second in scoring with 104 points. He had 20 penalty minutes in 61 games entering Tuesday's contest. MacKinnon captured the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP in 2024, and he won the league's sportsmanship award - the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy - in 2019.
Tristan Jarry stopped 11 of 12 shots in relief of Ingram en route to victory.
The NHL has never suspended MacKinnon in his 932-game career.
